The film's climactic final battle sequence between King Leonidas' Spartan soldiers and King Xerxes' Persian Army was comprised of approximately 105 visual effect shots, all completed by Pixel Magic.  The body of work was roughly broken down into 2 sections.  The first section concerned itself with the Persian Army surrounding the remaining Spartans, moving in for the kill.  The actual "combat shots" between the Persians and Spartans made up the second batch of visual effect shots.
